Time Management Book Reviewed

I wrote a review of Time Management for System Administrators by Thomas A. Limoncelli. After writing and sending in my review, I realized this is the longest book review I've written since I was in 6th grade. Unsurprisingly, writing the review wasn't as painful as I remember it being. Actually, it was kinda fun. Watch out, I might do it again soon.

In the early drafts of the review I had a paragraph that detailed my motives for purchasing this book. While I'd later shorten it to, ``based on William Bilancio's strong recomendation,'' I think the normal readers of this blog (all two of you!) might enjoy the original introduction to my purchase:

I was upset the other day when I read William Bilancio had read a book and time management and thought it would make him more productive. Damnit: William already gets more done in a week than I get done in a month1. You might think I know this because I hang out with William a lot. But I don't. Or maybe I know it from reading his blog. But he doesn't blog much. No, I know it because one day I read about William in the regional newspaper. I know William from the local Linux User's Group where he puts in a lot of time a treasurer, but this article was about a family newsletter he helped run, and there's the 6-day-a-week job he has. I'm not a tresurer, nor do I run a newsletter and work 6 days a week. So when I read William was using a time management book to become more productive, I knew I had to read it too, or I'd risk becoming inane.

  1. I pondered whether this should be, ``more done in a week than I do in a month,'' or, `` more done in a day than I do in a week.'' I chose the former so I didn't look completely ineffective, but I'm not convinced the later isn't true.
