Ad: SF Author John Scalzi in Philly Friday

David A. Harding

I'm attending the Philadelphia Science Fiction (SF) Society's general meeting this Friday, 14 December 2007, to see Campbell Award Winning SF writer and popular blogger John Scalzi.

How much do I like Scalzi? Enough that, earlier this year, I was debating driving to Virginia to see him. (I hear he gives great talks, but my primary source of information for that assessment is Scalzi's own blog.)

Why do I like him? He writes well. He writes frequently. I'm jealous, and I hope a freak accident transfers his superpowers into me this Friday.

Why am I blogging about this? So you can go too. I'm happy to drive any friends to Philly for the meeting. It starts at 21:00 and I plan to be there about 20 minutes early. My route is west along route 38, south down interstate 295, and over the Walt-Whitman bridge. If you want to go, and you're not far from my route, please contact me before Friday afternoon. I have room for three people if one of them has short legs or enjoys pain.

Thanks to my cousin Phil for introducing me to Scalzi's blog.
